This chapter describes the career and teaching philosophy of Finis Jhung, who performed with the Harkness Ballet and is currently a master teacher in New York City. He defines technique as beyond emotion. Being able to balance, turn, and jump should be “in the muscles.” Either you know how to do it, or you don't. And when you have such a technique, then you are free to develop your artistry. Jhung also imparts technique through his own formulas for balances, turns, and jumps.
