This chapter examines the confusion, misunderstanding and misinformation regarding the Legare Anchorage Shipwreck and the litigation relating to it during the period from 1979 to 1980. It discusses the legal minutiae in the court proceedings of the Klein v. Unidentified Wrecked and Abandoned Vessel, Her Tackle Apparel and Armament. It also analyzes the records of the National Park Service (NPS) and George Fischer's own recollection of the events surrounding the HMS Fowey during this period.
