Tamar Rogoff
Tamar Rogoff
For more than 15 years, Tamar Rogoff has been able to create site performances in New York cities and in various places all over the world. Aside from professional artists and members of the community, she also participates as a performer in her work. As she attempts to take audiences on tours in urban and forest spaces, she usually highlights the artifacts and facts from the past. Rogoff was able to direct films of her site works with Daisy Wright, and these have received various awards. Rogoff's initial inspiration for pursuing site work was rooted in how she had lived in India for three years during the 1970s. Here, outdoor performances—which are not to be perceived as inside theater's by-product— were common, and often involved the interaction of performers and spectators.
