This chapter describes the career and teaching philosophy of Yvonne Cartier, who performed with the Royal Ballet of London and was a mime in Paris for more than 20 years. Cartier defines technique as the means by which one realizes the expression of one's art. She also says that, when imparting technique, most teachers employ their own early training experience, enhanced by their professional career, and by the teachers and choreographers who have enriched their knowledge.
