This chapter features the early years of Mary's third marriage to the Rev. Thomas Bosomworth. It provides background information on Thomas Bosomworth's Yorkshire beginnings, his career in Georgia as the colony's clerk, and his eventual ordination as Anglican priest. Central to this chapter is the couple's renewal and expansion of Mary's land case, their new claims for crop bounties, and pursuit of Mary's withheld interpreter's salary. The chapter focuses upon the couple's attempt to create a paper trail substantiating their claims and illustrates how Mary's kinsman Malatchi of Coweta conspired to give the appearance of Creek support. This chapter also describes the Bosomworths' relocation of their trading operation to the forks of the Altamaha River and the establishment of their plantation on St. Catherine's Island.
